Geckosonline.com – A “Cool, Casual” Website
Part of what makes Geckos Bar and Grill so popular is the atmosphere – the other parts being the variety of great Tex-Mex food and the friendly service. When I was approached about creating a modern site for Geckos, I knew it had to convey the charm and vibe of the restaurant through visual cues.
Geckos is located in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore – a neighborhood characterized by bars on almost every street corner, so competition is high. In addition to communicating the bar’s style, the website needed to highlight what makes Geckos stand out from a crowd – an extensive menu, available until 1 AM (something very uncommon) and daily specials. We built the site on the WordPress platform (it’s not just for blogging anymore) so that the backend interface made it easy to update special items – from tapas on Tuesdays to their daily soup and entrée specials.
